Max Brenner the Chocolate Man for Lunch and Chocolates in New York City
Max Brunners, just steps away from New York's Union Square Park, is a large, beautiful, chocolate-themed restaurant. Yes, it features chocolate treats of all types, but more surprisingly, it also features excellent (and if you show restraint) reasonably-priced lunches.
Max Brunners' ham sandwich on a crusty baguette accompanied by a fresh salad is as good as any I've had in Paris. As an $8 carryout, packaged lovingly in a picnic box, it can easily make a delicious lunch for two. You can also eat-in for just under $10, plus tip.
To save a few dollars, drink Manhattan's tasty tap water instead of ordering a beverage. To save a few more, buy chocolate from its exciting chocolate shop, rather than as dessert. Pretty, gourmet chocolate squares start at $1.50 each. No matter how few you buy, your order is always attractively packaged.
Currently, at two locations: 841 Broadway (between 13th and 14th Streets, near Union Square) and 141 Second Avenue (at 9th Street).
