Coloring by Hand: How to arrange your coloring tools

If you like coloring by pencil or colored ink, you’ll own a lot of pencils, brushes, and pens.

The problem is that when you have hundreds of these things, storing them in their original containers makes each one hard to grasp.

While I love hundreds of colors myself, I generally only use a select few in any of my projects. My illustrations of dogs, for example, rely on brown, black, yellows, and rust.

To keep my work area organized and to simplify selecting the media I am using at the moment, I rest each one in a Styrofoam block, like you see here.

Create your own media holder by pressing holes big enough to hold your media upright, but not so tight that when you select your pencil or brush,  it pulls the Styrofoam up with it.
